Behold! Here’s your first look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor
Warner Bros. released the first image of a follicly challenged Jesse Eisenberg, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. There’s even a description of how Superman’s archenemy will be portrayed in the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
According to director Zack Snyder, the new Luthor will be a fresh take on the character, who has appeared on screen before thanks to the likes of Kevin Spacey and Gene Hackman.
“He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure, other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself ,” Snyder told EW, “And bald, of course.”
After his debut in Batman v. Superman, Eisenberg is expected to next appear as Luthor in DC and WB’s Suicide Squad. How he appears – businessman or felon – isn’t clear. The character will probably appear in several other DC films as well.
The plot of Batman v. Superman has managed to remain secret, despite some major casting reveals. Along with Batman and Superman, Luthor will share the screen with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, and at least cameos from Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ray Fisher’s Victor Stone (who may or may not begin his transformation into the hero Cyborg) in this film. Others may appear as well.
As for Luthor, he is likely going to be the primary antagonist, but it sounds like there will be more than just Luthor’s machinations at work.
“Our Lex is disarming and he’s not fake,” Snyder said. “He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.”
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26, 2016.
