How to train like an Olympian on a budget
With the Winter Olympics coming up, French comedian and prankster Remi Gaillard has some tips on how to train like an Olympian on a budget, in this clip he created in 2008.
So let’s say you dream of going to the Olympics and competing. Let’s also say that you don’t have what you might call “traditional” training – or even, ya know, talent. So what can you do to prepare for the game? Well, there are a few ways you can train like an Olympian, but on a budget.
How about racing a train? Or maybe hurdling construction equipment? Or possibly grabbing someone’s fishing pool and throwing it like a javelin, then running away from them (two exercises in one!). Hey, if Rocky could take on a heavyweight champ by running up and down stairs and punching slabs of meat, anything is possible.
French comedian and prankster Remi Gaillard put together a clip filled with what he labeled his own “Decathlon,” where he took the games to the streets. Gaillard is perhaps best known for his real-life Mari Kart racing that delighted YouTube fans and enraged the French police, and this clip fits in with that tone.
The video below was originally posted in 2008, but it’s obviously relevant again. If you don’t know why, try turning on a TV or going to any general news website and piece it together.
The clip focuses on well-known and general sports, but it was also filmed when the games were in Beijing. If it were created today, it might have some specific events for the Rio games, like maybe diving into algae or open water swimming through poo.
So if you are preparing to train for the 2020 games in Tokyo, give the video below a watch. It won’t help you in any way, but it is kinda funny.
