The first full Jessica Jones trailer is here, and November can’t come soon enough
November 20, 2016. Remember that date, because you may wonder where a lot of your friends disappeared to on that day.
Netflix and Marvel just released the first full trailer for its upcoming series, Jessica Jones. And damn it looks good.
The series will debut on November 20 when all 13 episodes are released online.
Jessica Jones is something new for Marvel. Daredevil proved that it can go dark and mature, and Jessica Jones is going to push that much further, with the depiction of rape, mental assault, and PTSD. It is going to be dark, but so far it is looking really interesting.
The series stars Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, a once aspiring superhero that was traumatized by a guy with the ability to make people do what he says. In the comics the character of Killgrave, aka the Purple Man, kept Jones captive for months, torturing her mentally and physically before sending her off to be badly beaten by the Avengers. That probably won’t translate directly, but based on the trailer, some of that is adapted.
The trailer also gives us a closer look at Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter. The characters of Cage and Jones have a long, romantic history in the comics. That seems to be hinted at here, and it will probably continue into the next Marvel and Netflix production, Luke Cage.
The trailer also gives us a look at David Tennant as Kilgrave (the live-action version of Killgrave). It raises the question of how do you stop a guy that can make you do anything?
Check it out below, and look for Jessica Jones exclusively on Netflix on November 20.
