Here’s what the animated Guardians of the Galaxy TV show looks like
Although Guardians of the Galaxy 2 won’t hit theaters until May 5, 2017, if you want more – if you need more – then Marvel has the next best thing. Well, maybe the third best thing. Fourth, tops.
On September 26, 2015, a new, original Guardians of the Galaxy animated series will premiere on Disney XD. It isn’t quite the same as seeing Chris Pratt get into dance offs, but it is still Guardians-ish. If you need some convincing though, now you can see what it will look like courtesy of the Guardians of the Galaxy TV trailer below.
The series will begin shortly after the events of the 2014 film, with Star Lord and crew bouncing around, hunting for the odd treasure, and accidentally saving the galaxy now and then. Despite that origin though, the series will not be considered part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means it can freely explore new stories without having to worry about the consequences.
The voice cast is also all new, and it will be led by Will Friedle as Peter Quill/Star Lord. In the first episode, the team finds a treasure map that is somehow connected to Quill’s DNA. Although the show isn’t technically connected to the films, don’t expect it to deal with some of the big mysteries of the movie, especially who Star Lord’s dad is. Fighting Thanos, however, will be a major part of the series.
