The First Order has the stage in the Star Wars: Episode VII Korean trailer

Episode VII Korean trailer

The question isn’t whether or not Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens will be a financial hit, the only real questions is how big a hit it will be.

It’s too early for film prognosticators to have an accurate idea on how much tit might earn, but many are thinking that it will be one of the top grossing films of the year, and possibly one of the highest grossing films of all time. Part of that is thanks to higher ticket costs, but a lot of it is due to the film’s hype.

And Star Wars can do hype.

After all, if Jurassic World can jump to the top of that list, there’s no question that Star Wars has the potential.

If Episode VII is going to do that though, it will need international support. Disney and Lucasfilm are well aware of that, and the worldwide advertisements have begun.

The trailer below is narrated in English, but the text is Korean. It’s short, a mere 30 seconds, and it recycles footage we’ve already seen with one exception. The trailer begins with good look at the Empire’s potential successor, The First Order.

The trailer released quietly over the weekend, but the Star Wars Twitter page posted the photo above with the caption “The First Order assembles.”

We’ve seen them before, but this is a closer glimpse. It also raises at least one interesting question.

On the stage, standing in a position of honor, you can see a chrome helmet. That likely belongs to Gwendolyn Christie’s Captain Phasma. In another scene recycled from a previous trailer, a chrome looking TIE-fighter seems to be attacking other stormtroopers inside a hangar. Does that mean the Order is fighting other former-Empire troops?

Maybe, maybe not, but it’s fun to theorize.

Check out the Episode VII Korean trailer below and look for the movie in theaters on December 18, 2015.
