And now, the ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ trailer
The first, official trailer for Star Wars: Episodes VII – The Force Awakens has arrived. You can check it out below. Just remember to breathe.
You can find the the trailer a bunch of places, beginning with the Official Star Wars page, or, ya know, right here at the bottom of the post. Odds are that by the end of the weekend, you’ll be able to find it on just about every media site on the planet.
If you are hoping to see it on the big screen though, you’ll need to be in one of the 30 select theaters around North America that will be airing it this weekend. The trailer should then be in most theaters throughout December.
The trailer is little more than a teaser, but it’s a Star Wars teaser. We don’t get to see the original cast, but the Millennium Falcon is there in all its glory, and we get a glimpse at a few of the new stars. It’s still unclear who the new actors are playing, but we do get a look at John Boyega in Storm Trooper gear. That doesn’t necessarily mean that he is a Storm Trooper though – Luke and Han both wore Storm Trooper outfits in the original Star Wars as disguises. Don’t worry, we’ll probably be dicussing it for months on end.
The entire trailer is just 88 seconds, but the odds are it will dominate the entertainment sphere for days and weeks to come. Since the movie isn’t due in theaters until December 18, 2015, it may be a while until the next trailer is released. Filming is complete, but with more than a year to go, there is still a lot of work to be done.
All we really know so far is that the film will be set roughly 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and focus on the original cast, as well as a trio of new characters, including Boyega. So enjoy the trailer, then enjoy it again and again and again.
