Netflix announces three new, star packed original shows to help you forget cable TV
If you’ve been on the fence about whether or not be rid of your cable TV subscription, Netflix just made it a little bit easier to say goodbye. The streaming service has announced a trio of new programs on the way in 2015, and they are packed with stars and potential.
The three new shows are:
The first of the three shows features a sci-fi slant, and stars Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy. The show is set in a town cut off from the world, where an unknown disease kills off everyone over the age of 21.
With Bloodline, Netflix is flexing its muscle and stocking up on award winning talent. The show is a thriller and a mystery, and stars Emmy winner Kyle Chandler (Argo, Friday Night Lights), Linda Cardellini, and Sam Shepard. The plot is being kept under wraps, but it focuses on four Florida siblings and the dark secrets they have to face when a fifth returns.
F is for Family
Created by and starring comedian Bill Burr (Kroll Show, New Girl), this animated show for adults follows the Murphy family during the 1970s, and also features the voice talents of Justin Long and Laura Dern.
It’s not clear exactly what format the three series will take. Netflix has had success with the 13 episode format, but Between, which is co-produced by Canadian companies City and shomi, will break from that format and air six one-hour episodes for the first season. No word yet on how the other shows will be presented.
The three original shows join an increasingly impressive lineup on Netflix next year. A third season of the hits House of Cards and Orange is the New Black are already confirmed, along with the third and final season of Hemlock Grove. The high profile Marvel series Daredevil is set to premiere next year, and it may be joined by at least one of the four other Marvel shows on the way (although nothing has been confirmed in terms of release dates for the other shows yet).
