Before he was the Joker, Jared Leto was a coke drinking, rollerblading, competitive dancer
Back in 1991, long before he was the Joker, actor and musician Jared Leto appeared in an ad for coke that was so deeply 90s that it hurts.
Jared Leto has had an interesting career. To begin with, the 44-year old looks like he has been drinking unicorn blood to keep him young. Putting that aside, he is an Oscar-winning actor, a successful musician, and apparently a totally gnarly rollerblading dude.
Back in 1991, when hypercolors were rad and 1GB hard drive cost $7,000, Leto was just getting started in the entertainment industry. The 19-year old hadn’t even moved to LA yet to be a waiter actor, but he still managed to book a bitchin’ commercial with Coca-Cola – which, at the time, was pretty popular.
The ad is long for a commercial, clocking in at just over two minutes. There’s even a story, kinda. A guy in high school finds a girl in front of a freestanding Coke machine that is inconveniently located on the steps leading up to a building. He then jumps into another dimension and gets into a dance-off with a guy that looks a lot like Leto and a crew of people that can’t afford clothes. They then drink Coke as things explode behind them.
It’s a pretty common story.
Leto has actually done several commercials over the years, because Jared Leto gotta eat. So he looked like this:
Check out a young and innocent Let doing his bit to usher in the 90s while drinking coke. Hold that sweet image of him in your head.
