Kill your friends this Halloween in Evolve’s closed “Big Alpha”

If you are one of the lucky chosen few, you may be able to celebrate this Halloween by hunting down your friends and beating them to death. In a fun, totally non horrifying way that is.

2K Games and developer Turtle Rock today announced an upcoming closed alpha for their game, Evolve, which will be known – conveniently enough – as the “Big Alpha.” Xbox One owners will have a 24 hour exclusive window starting on October 30, then the alpha will launch on PC and the PlayStation 4 on October 31, aka Halloween. The alpha will run until November 2, and there will be a limited number of invites going out.

“We need to stress test the servers and the matchmaking system, look at balance, unlock rates, etc.,” Design Director Chris Ashton said. “The alpha test is not fully representative of the final product, but it’s our chance to see what the game looks like in the real world, and we will test again in the open beta for Evolve exclusively for Xbox One in January 2015. The data gathered in the tests will help make Evolve the best that it can possibly be when it launches on February 10, 2015.”

In order to register for a chance to play, Xbox One owners can sign up here. Registration does not guarantee acceptance to the alpha, but Xbox One owners will receive priority. For access to other platforms, keep on eye posted on the game’s blog for details. Alternatively, those that pre-ordered the game are pre-approved for access, regardless of platform.

Regardless of what system you hope to play on, in order to register you’ll need to get your hands on a 17-character sign up code. To find one of these codes, you’ll need to keep an eye on the game’s blog, Twitter feed, and Facebook pages. Be warned though, entering with a code only enters you for a chance to gain access.

You can try this code right here, although it is limited.

If you really want to increase your chances of getting in the Big Alpha, keep your eyes peeled for more codes.

Evolve hits stores on February 10, 2015 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In the meantime, check out the new trailer below:
