Jon Snow channels his inner Leeroy Jenkins

Jon Snow goes Leeroy Jenkins

If you haven’t seen the ninth episode of Game of Thrones’ sixth season, titled “Battle of the Bastards,” stop reading right now. In fact, assuming you are a fan of the show and are hoping to avoid any spoilers, you should probably just get off the internet altogether. Maybe even take a trip to the country until you can somehow watch it.

In other words: spoilers.

“Battle of the Bastards” aired on Sunday, June 19, and it resolved several major plotlines. It also featured a massive battle that reportedly pushed the episode’s budget to $10 million. Before the action started though, the battle was proceeded by two very bad decisions. The first was Rickon Stark’s decision to run in a straight line (serpentine, son!), and the second was Jon Snow’s idea to go solo beast mode on 6,000 enemy troops.

The second decision brings us here today.

Jon Snow’s move was epically dumb (albeit understandable). He ignored his own careful planning and rushed into the battle, essentially screwing over his own team. Basically, it’s not all that different from one of the most famous viral videos of all time: Leeroy Jenkins.

A group known as The Blind Editor posted the mashup video below (if they aren’t the creators, please let me know). Surprisingly, HBO has yet to send the legal hordes after the posters, but that might still come.

So check it out below and look for the season finale of Game of Thrones this Sunday, when every character you know and love dies a horrible death. I don’t know that for sure, but I’m playing the odds.
