The first trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak is here, and it is gloriously creepy
In between making films about giant robots punching monsters until they fall to pieces and eat Ron Perlman, director Guillermo del Toro directed, produced, co-wrote, and maybe even helped build some of the sets for his current passion project, Crimson Peak. You can now get a taste of what that movie is all about, thanks to the release of the first Crimson Peak trailer.
The film returns del Toro to his horror roots with an original ghost story set in Victorian England. Here’s the official description:
Legendary Pictures’ Crimson Peak, a co-production with Universal Pictures, is a haunting gothic horror story directed by the master of dark fairy tales, Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy series, Pacific Rim), written by del Toro & Matthew Robbins and starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver.
In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds… and remembers.
Del Toro has been working on the script since back in 2006, when he was working on Pan’s Labyrinth. Based on the trailer, you can see that same, creepy and bizarre mindset at work.
The movie still has several months until release, so expect to hear and see a bunch more as the October 16, 2015 release date nears.
