The Emoji Movie Cleans up at the 2018 Razzies
While the Oscars were stealing all the headlines for the best movies this weekend, the 2018 Razzies were highlighting the worst and Dwayne Johnson is cool with it.
Over the weekend, Hollywood’s elite came together in Los Angeles to congratulate themselves for being rich and famous while also highlighting the best films and performances of the year.
The Academy Awards ceremony held a few surprises. The Shape of Water was the big winner of the night, taking home the Oscars for Best Picture and the Best Director for Guillermo del Toro. Gary Oldman also snagged his first Oscar for Best Actor, Frances McDormand took home her second Best Actress win, Sam Rockwell won for Best Supporting Actor, and Alison Janey won Best Supporting Actress.
But while the best were celebrating, the worst of the year were being honored at the 2018 The Golden Raspberry Awards, aka the Razzies.
The Razzie nominees were announced around the same time as the Oscar nominees, and the winners were announced the day before. The results may surprise you since all the nominated films and performances were equally bad. But The Emoji Film was the big winner/loser of the day. Along with the Razzie for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, Worst Onscreen Combo, and it earned Anthony Leonidis the Worst Director award.
So all in all, not a great night for the film.
Usually, the winners/losers of the Razzies just kind of ignore the whole thing. A few try to play it off, but act like they just got a new phone and haven’t transferred their contacts over when someone tells them about their selection. Every once in a while though, an actor or actress will lean into it and roll with it. This year, Dwayne Johnson was that actor.
It’s the #Oscars and Hollywood’s biggest night!
So let me go ahead and take this “L” right on the chin for Baywatch.

It’s hard to hate on one of the most likable stars on the planet, especially when he is willing to accept when a movie of his is bad rather than just blaming the critics or telling people it was misunderstood. So props to him.
And now, all the Razzie 2018 winners/losers!
