Elon Musk is Selling a Flamethrower Now, Because Why Not

If you ever wanted to burn something in style, you’re in lucky – Elon Musk is selling a flamethrower under the banner of his “Boring” Company.

In yet another example of Elon Musk taking a joke, way, way too far, the Tesla owner and real-life Tony Stark is now selling a flamethrower – a real, working flame thrower. Because of course he is.

Look, we get it. Musk’s “Boring” Company, a tunneling company that was created to “bore” through the Earth, is anything but boring. That’s the joke, but we’re not going to fall for it. The name itself appears to have come from a joke started online, but it’s difficult to tell if that is true or just something Musk ran with. Either way, it is a running joke that his Boring Company is anything but boring, and selling a flamethrower is just the latest example.

In another example of Musk blurring the lines between careful planning and social media mob rule, he initially tweeted that “after 50k hats, we will start selling The Boring Company flamethrower.” Most assumed that Musk was joking, but the flamethrower was listed on the company’s website. Eventually, the page went live and the flamethrower began taking pre-orders for the surprisingly reasonable price of $500.

Sure, it’s a huge waste of money, but it’s a bargain compared to most production model flamethrowers, which can cost thousands of dollars. So if you are the type of person that likes a bargain, if you are the type of person that buys clothes you don’t need because the deal was too good to pass up, then God help us this might be for you.

The terms seem to reinforce the idea that this is a joke, but trying to pre-order leads to PayPal, so maybe not.

-Fire extinguisher sold separately (for exorbitant amounts of money)
-Taxes and shipping will be added at checkout
-Additional customs fees may apply for international orders because of laws
-International customers can receive a full refund if not happy with said fees
-Before shipping, aspiring flamethrower aficionados will be sent a terms and conditions rhyme for review and acceptance
-Starts shipping in spring
-May not be used on Boring Company decorative lacquered hay bales or Boring Company dockside munitions warehouses

All sane arguments against buying a flamethrower aside, look at how much fun Musk is having below. Maybe he just needed a break from planning trips to Mars, or maybe the Boring team encountered hostile mole people. Regardless, if you are in the market for a flamethrower, today is your lucky day!
