Elektra and Black Widow fight it out in real-life (sorta)

Two of the stuntwomen responsible for Elektra and Black Widow put on their own impromptu martial arts display, giving us a proxy look at if the characters fought.

If you’ve ever fancied yourself a comic book fan – specifically of the superhero variety – then you’ve probably had this argument with someone, maybe even just yourself: Who would win in a fight between character A and character B?

Could Batman really beat Superman? Could Wolverine finish off Deathstroke? Could Howard the Duck defeat Darkseid? Pretty common stuff, but thanks to the increase in live-action TV shows and movies, we can actually take that argument to the next level, and in doing so, give a few props to a group of people that are a huge part of each live-action character’s onscreen presence, but rarely get much love.

With Netflix’s long awaited series The Defenders set to debut later this week, stuntwoman Lauren Mary Kim posed the question: Who would in a fight between Elektra and Black Widow? It wasn’t just a call for fans to debate in a comment section until it devolved into arguments about Hitler, ultimately leading to someone having the SWAT team arrive at their house as a “joke,” it was a legit question from someone that in some ways is in a position to find out.

Although you may not know Kim at first glance, if you’ve seen the second season of Daredevil on Netflix, you’ve seen her work. She recently appeared as the stand-in for Elodie Yung, who plays Elektra in Daredevil and the upcoming Defenders. Kim also recruited fellow stuntwoman, Amy Johnston, who helped bring the character of Black Widow to life in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

They then put on a show.

The clip below doesn’t definitively answer who would win, but it gives us an idea of what a fight between the two Marvel characters would look like. Given that Elektra is part of the TV side and Black Widow the movies, the two may not meet on screen anytime soon, but there is always a chance.

Daredevil star Charlie Cox recently stated that he would like to see Black Widow appear in a future season of the show. That is mostly wishful thinking on his part, but the characters of Daredevil and the Black Widow do have a long history, including an on-and-off romance. It would also be a simple way to bridge the TV and movie universes with a character that wouldn’t require any more special effects than the others in the Netflix-verse.

There is also talk of a Black Widow movie (there has been for years), so maybe the TV side can loan Elektra to that, giving fans a much needed connection and offering Black Widow a formidable and recognizable villain that is already established. We can only hope.

For now though, check out the fight below and think of what might be.
