Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista channel their inner Bob Ross
It turns out that Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista are something of Renaissance Men.
During a segment for LAD Bible filmed to hype the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (you may have heard of it), each actor was challenged with painting a portrait of his co-star. They were given a time limit of five minutes and set loose on the easel, where they channeled their inner Bob Ross and created surprisingly decent works. Pratt si actually weirdly good at painting.
It’s a fairly simple video, but an effective one. At this point, if you haven’t seen enough footage of the movie through ads and trailers to convince to you see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, nothing will. There’s actually a very good argument to be made that less is better. The film is part of the massive Marvel machine, so Disney and Marvel putting out yet another clip won’t sway anyone that is on the fence, and it may actually annoy some fans who are avoiding spoilers. So videos like this are kind of delightful.
The clip highlights that both Pratt and Bautista are charismatic and fun to watch, which in turn should make you a bit more excited to see their movie. And if you don’t like Pratt and Bautista, you may be a monster anyway.
Marvel isn’t shy about releasing plenty of footage of its upcoming movies, but it also has a knack for encouraging funny and bizarre short clips that tend to go viral. Marvel isn’t always responsible for the clips, but it seems to fit the studio’s mentality well enough. Whether it’s Daniel Bruhl attempting to poison Robert Downey Jr., Thor getting a roommate, or Downey Jr. going to war with Chris Evans over the last donut while Elizabeth Olsen looks on in horror, clips like these do as much to promote a film as the glut of footage released prior to the premiere.
Anyway, check out the clip of Pratt and Bautista below, it’s kind of adorable.
