And now, the worst competitive dives you’ll ever see

January has been rough so far for pop culture. Bowie, Rickman, Frey… enough is enough. So here’s something that will hopefully brighten the mood a bit.

Unless you happen to be a competitive diver. In that case, sorry.

This clip is actually from June 2015, but I just came across it, and it made me lol. It features two competitive divers from the Philippines, John Elmerson Fabriga, 21, and John David Pahoyo, 17, competing in the men’s 3-m springboard event at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore. Or so Time says. I have no idea. It’s all just diving. At least until the summer Olympics. Then it becomes American diving. That’s different.

Anyway, both divers had a less than stellar performance, and gloriously, they did it back-to-back.

It’s brutal. Both dives are almost painful to watch. The faces they make as they dive are pretty choice as well.

Both divers had a good attitude about it though. They were caught laughing about it in the pool after the dives, and they later jumped on social media to talk about it.

“I even laughed at myself after I did this dive,” Pahoyo said. “I am still proud because not all of us has the privilege to represent our own country to such a big sporting event like this. And by the way can I ask all of you if you can still smile after getting embarrassed in front of thousands of people?”

Apparently the guy in charge of the Filipino Olympics wasn’t all that amused. Oh well.

Check it out below, and know that for as bad a day as you’re having, these guys probably had it worse.
