The Witcher 3 and Her Story pwn the 2016 Game Developers Choice Awards Winners

2016 Game Developers Choice Awards Winners

Each year during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, the assembled masses of industry professional congregate to honor the best and most innovative games and developers of the year. This year is no different. If it was, this would be a very different type of article, possibly a tragic one where we mourn the loss of the assembled developers and sadly look forward to a year filled with uninspired DLC and retro re-releases.

This year marks the 16th annual Game Developers Choice Awards. If you follow the game industry, the winners shouldn’t come as too big a surprise. Much like the Game Awards in December, the big winner was The Witcher 3, which won the award for Game of the Year and Best Technology.

CD Projekt RED’s game was joined in the shower of accolades by Her Story, which won the most awards of the night, including the award for Innovation, Best Narrative, and Best Hanheld/Mobile Game.

Rocket League, another big winner at the Game Awards, took home Best Design. Marcus “Notch” Persson was given the Pioneer nod, and Todd Howard was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
